The presentations went quite well, I think we managed to stand out a bit with out presentation, although its fair to say that none of the presentations were the average -boring. Not everything went perfectly, and the android app only got "finished" while the second presentation was on its way, but it was good in general. I'm glad I made the windows phone app, as it was something to demo that actually worked, and while the images might not have been perfect, it did what it should and didn't just use placeholders. The power-drill surprise was a success, as I dont think anyone saw that one coming!
I'm quite glad this project is over. It wasn't that it was a lot of work, it was rather the lack of commitment to the project by some people... The trust I put into some people doing their work on time, and not pushing it for the very last moment, was broken by the android people moving at a dead-slow speed, leaving the actual work to the very last moment, while we were actually quite clear the two people can make that app in an afternoon, or maybe one day. So that was a bit disappointing, also given that I actually proved that concept by making an app within a total of 10 hours, mostly by myself. So I'm slightly pissed at the lack of self discipline which was demonstrated by the people commissioned to do the android... its work, and while it was a really boring app, it was easy enough to get done and out of the way.

We just had the presentation planning meeting and will meet again at 4 pm, so in approx. 1 hour.
The meeting was used to structure the presentation and practice the single portions once each, in order to identify any major problems. There were no major problems as such, except for the fact that the android app and with it Robert, are not present. Robert later stated that he is on his way and will likely get it done on time. But luckily we have the windows phone app in case the android app refuses to work.
I'm quite looking forward to the presentation, I'm sure we will stand out with out presentation, and I hope the other groups demos are standard and boring so ours stands out even more :D

Today is the final day of the Project runtime.
Yesterday morning, while installing android studio in order to get the compilation of the program going/sorted, I started making a crude Windows Phone app. Justinas later in the evening helped with this, and I just finished making it 15 minutes ago. It is fully functional with three different symptoms and a profile page, basically illustrating all functionality, although the present three symptoms are obviously not much to look at. Its not exactly scalable as it sits right now, but it could easily be extended using a MYSQLlight database or other data format, to store symptoms and create the decision tree to each symptom programatically.
Kirsty also came over in order to give feedback on my app this morning, which lead to some additions of images where text was used and a function to allow the storage of the users age and weight.
We are meeting at 2 in order to plan and rehearse the presentation for 5. I think it will go well, and we have at least one functioning app on a cheap smartphone brand, which is quite practical given that doctors in foreign countries would likely not be able to afford a higher priced iphone for example. I have no clue how far the android app has been coming, and just hope that Robert and Alistair will have a working product by 5.

In today's group meeting we discussed the status of the group-work in terms of the current work each team is involved in. It was obvious that the user experience group was probably the furthest group, in that they had flowcharts, use cases and persona's all set up and figured out. For the user experience, there will also be a focus group tomorrow with some foreign students in order to obtain further requirements.
The advertisement team has its portion done, namely an advertisement of approx. 2 minutes length which can therefore be shown in whole at the presentation on Friday.
The programming guys each have their portion more or less done and now only need to combine their parts via github in order to produce the first working prototype. This will hopefully be done today, but more likely until Thursday.
The design team presented a custom made logo for the app, which will be incorporated into the app after the latest suggestions have been brought into the design.
We then discussed the presentation and some basic structural ideas for the presentation. Namely, having a short sketch acted out by myself and two other group members and then explaining the idea and the necessity for the application. This will be followed by the advertisement video, which will be accompanied by the user experience people explaining their work.
Therefore it looks like the whole project is coming along nicely, even though some user testing might have been nice. But then again, the prototype is due on Friday, and until then we'll have to go with the results from the focus group and a app mockup.

We had the second general group meeting today which involved Natalie Lafferty and the entire group, even though there were some no-shows.
We discussed the current progress and evaluated the mindmap which highlights the main features of the site. In terms of graphics, there is now a consent that graphics need to be of the same style, and if they can't be found on-line, we'll have to create some manually.
As for the coding of the program, now that the mindmap is in place, we can probably get started with a first version of the app quite soon, hopefully by the monday meeting.
A finished first version of the program will also allow the UX people to evaluate the app and contribute UX considerations, as well as allow the advertisement people to create a plan as to what the advertisement could entail. I will now get down with graphics, and send those to the coders asap so they can avoid using mock images which then always entails changing them, which is just a waste of time.

Meeting

We had the first formal meeting as a whole team today and decided upon some fundamentals in this project.
Firstly, we discussed some general issues such as the broad requirements of the application and the general outline for the coming 2.7 weeks. Next we split up into the fundamental groups and agreed on keeping the weekly meeting on Monday at 2pm for the entire team, and smaller meetings throughout the week within the sub-partitions of the team.

Next, Kristy, Steph and I had a meeting for the graphics aspects of the application, where we concluded on the graphics we will need and the strategies in how we will obtain/make these. The essence is, that we will take existing graphics where applicable and appropriate, and where they meet our expectations perfectly. Wherever that does not apply, we will create our own. We expect the graphics to be created within a few days which will enable us to concentrate on programming, UX and advertisement creation as appropriate.

We will have a programmers meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1pm, where we will outline the program and hopefully plan to have a working prototype by next Mondays team meeting, hopefully using some of the prepared graphics already.
